Who are you, what is the name of your business, and what do you do?
I am Julie Boswell, a Direct Response Copywriter and Marketing Strategist. I help entrepreneurs make a powerful connection with their target audiences so they’re compelled to take action. My website is www.JulieBoswell.com.
What ONE THING do you think gives a woman the “BUZZ” worthy factor?
The ability to actually produce the results that you promise. It’s true that every effort can’t be a winner, but most of us can talk a good game. Winning pretty consistently is an entirely different story and certainly “BUZZ – worthy” if you can do it!
To date, what has been the biggest obstacle that you have had to overcome in order to succeed?
Multiple Personalities. There’s a HUGE part of me that is well aware of my worth and God-given talents, yet there’s another part that’s always questioning my path and purpose – wondering where I really fit. That lack of clarity can often cloud my day-to-day operations. At the same time, I know to some extent it’s healthy so I don’t beat myself up about it. But it IS a big challenge to plow full steam ahead in your business when you don’t have the crystal clear vision of where you want it to go. I’m working on it!
What do you enjoy the most about being a woman entrepreneur?
The ability to be home for my family. Though I work 50-60 hours a week, I’m still home and “off” work when I need to be. I wouldn’t have been able to spend nearly as much time with my daughter if I still had my old J.O.B. as Director of Marketing for Glazer-Kennedy Insider’s Circle.
What ONE success tip or strategy can you leave us with?
It is permissible to ignore even those that you admire the most if they tell you that you can’t or aren’t ready to do something. I’m an internally questioning person, but even I rely on my own inner bad ass to guide big life decisions whether it’s a job or career switch, a new business venture, an investment, or raising my prices. I take big risks and that practice has served me well. I’ve been burned once out of the last 10 times I’ve made a major decision like that with me as my guide. I can live with that.
What is the last book you read and what was your #1 takeaway?
“Steve Jobs” By Walter Isaacson
There are so many takeaways but the biggest one is that passion (and detail) for creating the ultimate experience for your customer is what great companies are all about. I think this applies to my tiny little one-person company too!
